Shift4 Dine, the POS system formerly called SkyTab, for Arkansas restaurants
Same platform, new name. Here's what Shift4 Dine includes, what the hardware covers, and the one question the rename doesn't answer.

SkyTab is now Shift4 Dine. Shift4 announced the rename in May 2026 and says the products, the interface, the integrations and the support channels are all unchanged. You get an all in one restaurant platform, with online ordering, QR code order and pay, reservations, waitlist, loyalty and a website builder listed as included, not sold as add ons. Shift4 publishes no monthly software price and no card rate.
Is SkyTab the same thing as Shift4 Dine?
Yes. Shift4 posted a customer notice on 5 May 2026 saying that on 12 May, SkyTab POS would officially be rebranded as Shift4 Dine. Same products, same service, same support. No changes to day to day operations and none to the software interface. Account setup, integrations, reporting and support channels all stayed where they were, and existing merchants had to do nothing at all.
The web address moved with the name. Ask for skytab.com/pricing and you land on dine.shift4.com/pricing. A rep who still hands you a folder with SkyTab on the cover is not hiding anything, because printed material takes months to catch up, but you have just learned how recently he was trained. Before you sign, ask which brand name goes on your merchant agreement. Keep a copy.

What hardware comes with it?
Shift4 lists six pieces of restaurant hardware: a Workstation, a Handheld, a Tablet, a Kitchen Display System, a Customer Facing Display and a Kiosk. Shift4 advertises a lifetime warranty on all of it, and states in its own words that if it breaks, they will replace it. The manufacturer is the one making that promise. Get the promise printed on your order form, not just read off a web page.
The kitchen display is a 16 or 22 inch touchscreen. The optional bump bar has, in Shift4's description, an all aluminum housing, twenty sealed magnetic buttons and a scroll wheel. The handheld runs the full POS software, takes EMV chip, NFC tap and swipe as a backup, accepts Apple Pay and Google Pay, and carries both 4G and WiFi, so curbside and patio service don't need a separate product. Shift4 states that payments on it are secured by tokenization and PCI validated point to point encryption.
One naming note. The old SkyTab site called the devices SkyTab POS System, SkyTab Mobile and SkyTab Glass. The Shift4 Dine site uses plain descriptive names now. Same device families, different labels on the spec sheet.
What do you get without paying extra for software?
The Shift4 Dine pricing page lists marketing and loyalty, reservations and waitlist, a QR code solution and a website builder as free, under the line get started for zero dollars. Online ordering sits in the same column. Shift4 calls its online ordering commission free, integrating directly into the POS so orders reach the kitchen without a dedicated tablet cluttering the pass, with order throttling to keep the back of house from drowning in a rush.
Shift4 also runs a Marketplace of third party integrations and names DoorDash, Uber Eats and Postmates among them, so marketplace tickets can be pulled into the same flow as everything else and stop living on their own screen by the expo window.
Read the footer before you get excited. The pricing page carries the line that terms and conditions apply, and that advertised pricing is only for new customers. Included doesn't mean free of card fees either. Every online order still carries card processing, and processing is the number that will cost you most over three years.

How much does Shift4 Dine cost?
As of 29 July 2026, Shift4 publishes no monthly software figure and no card processing rate anywhere on the Shift4 Dine site. The pricing page advertises getting started for zero dollars, lists what is included at no extra software charge, and describes processing in two words: competitive rates. There's also an Advantage Program, which Shift4 says offsets processing fees by design. No number is attached to either one.
So any specific monthly figure you find on a review site, or hear across the table from a rep, is a deal somebody else was offered. Not a published price you can hold Shift4 to. We won't repeat those numbers here, because we cannot source them to the vendor.
Make the quote comparable instead. Ask for the software cost per terminal per month, in writing. Ask for hardware priced both as a purchase and as a subscription. Ask for processing quoted as interchange plus a stated markup, with the full fee schedule attached. Then run the effective rate arithmetic on our pricing page and hold the answer up against your current statement.

Who installs it, and who answers the phone on go live night?
Shift4 publishes 24 hour in house technical support and onsite installation through a nationwide network of certified technicians. Real coverage, and worth having at two in the morning. A traveling technician who has never seen your kitchen is still not the person who built your menu.
Our part is the local part. We program your menu, so the system runs your items, your modifiers, your happy hour rules and your tax categories instead of a demo menu. We install in person. We are in the building on go live night, the shift where problems surface. Judd Alsup leads the Arkansas side of this.

Shift4 Dine, honestly
Three reps have already told you what it does well. Here's the same product with the awkward parts left in.
What works
- Online ordering, QR code order and pay, reservations, waitlist, loyalty and marketing and a website builder all sit on the pricing page as included, not as paid add ons.
- The hardware family covers a whole restaurant from one vendor: workstation, handheld, tablet, kitchen display, customer facing display and kiosk.
- Shift4 advertises a lifetime hardware warranty and says that if a device breaks, they will replace it.
- The handheld runs the full POS on both 4G and WiFi, so curbside, patio and delivery aren't a separate product line.
- Shift4 publishes 24 hour in house technical support and onsite installation through certified technicians.
- Online ordering is described as commission free and routes into the POS without a dedicated tablet on the pass.
What does not
- Shift4 publishes no monthly software price and no card processing rate on its own site. Not a range, not a starting figure, nothing. You can price Clover from your kitchen table at midnight. You cannot price Shift4 Dine without a rep in the room, and the seller who controls when you see the number controls the whole negotiation.
- The pricing page states that advertised pricing is only for new customers. If you are an existing merchant hoping to renegotiate, the promotion is pointed somewhere else.
- Software and processing come from the same company. You cannot keep the POS and move your card processing to a cheaper provider later, so a good rate today deserves a hard second look in year two.
- The rebrand is only weeks old. Review sites, training videos, forum threads and third party integration documents still say SkyTab, which makes independent research harder than for a platform that has carried one name for a decade.
- The Advantage Program offsets processing fees by moving the cost onto your guest at the checkout screen. Your customers pay for it and your state's surcharging rules govern it. Nobody is discounting anything.
- Free loyalty, free reservations and a free website builder are worth exactly nothing until you switch them on. Don't let bundled tools you will never configure talk you into a worse effective rate.
Questions restaurant owners ask
Do I have to do anything because of the SkyTab rename?
No. Shift4 stated that no action is required, that account setup, integrations, reporting and support channels are unchanged, and that the software interface is the same. From behind the counter, nothing moved. One housekeeping step: make sure your paperwork and your accountant's records use the name that appears on your current statements.
Will my old SkyTab hardware still work?
Shift4's rebrand notice says customers continue to use the same products with the same service and support, with no changes to day to day operations. No hardware retirement was announced. If you are running older equipment, ask Shift4 support directly for the device lifecycle position on your specific model before you plan a year around it.
Does Shift4 Dine include a kitchen display system?
A kitchen display system is part of the hardware range, a 16 or 22 inch touchscreen with an optional bump bar. Hardware, though, so it lands as a line on your quote and not as something bundled in at no cost. Whether you need one comes down to ticket volume and how many tickets your kitchen loses to a jammed printer on a Friday.
Can I get Shift4 Dine without using Shift4 for processing?
No. Payment acceptance is built into the platform and the two are sold as one relationship. Weigh that carefully, because across three years the processing line dwarfs the software line. Get the rate and the full fee schedule in writing before you commit to the software.
How long does a Shift4 Dine install take in Arkansas?
A day, in most single location restaurants. The work that decides whether the day goes well happens earlier, in menu programming, and that is our job, not yours. We are on site on go live night, because anything missed in programming shows up on that shift, in front of paying guests.
Vendor pricing and tax rates change without notice. Confirm current figures with the vendor, the city or your accountant before you rely on them. Not tax, legal or accounting advice.
